Soon it expanded its business in Boston, New York City, and Toronto. According to latest updates, it serves more than 150 markets in North America and 100 markets in Europe, Asia and South America and has amassed 35 million registered users. Recently, this website has started its operations in India. Andrew Mason is the mastermind behind Groupon. Impressed by his idea, his employer, Eric Lefkofsky, provided $1 million to develop the idea.
In April 2010, the company was valued at $1.35 billion. According to a report conducted by Groupon’s marketing association and reported in Forbes Magazine, which was reported by the Wall Street Journal, Groupon is “projecting that the company is on pace to make $1 billion in sales faster than any other business, ever”. This is awesome as Groupon revolutionized the way businesses are done on internet. Internet giants like Yahoo and Google tried to buy Groupon. In October 2010, Yahoo! was rumored to have offered over $3 billion to acquire Groupon. Moreover, Google offered $5.3 billion with a $700 million earnout to acquire Groupon and was finally rejected.

Last week, Google launched a new trivia game called “A Google a Day,” which encourages users to search Google for their answers. It’s fun and doesn’t take too much time (if you’re an avid searcher). Watch out, though: Questions are supposed to get tougher as the week goes on. The daily quiz offers up a single question that’s supposed to be hard enough that typing a quick set of words into a search query box won’t find the solution. Answers to these questions will be posted the next day on the “Google a Day” page and above the New York Times’ crossword puzzle. And like the Times’ puzzle, questions will get harder as the week goes on, “by Thursday or Friday, even the most seasoned searcher may be stumped,” according to Google’s official blog.
