Mobile applications are softwares which are developed for small low-power handheld devices such as personal digital assistants, enterprise digital assistants or mobile phones. These applications are either pre-installed on phones during manufacture, or downloaded by customers from various mobile software distribution platforms. In the twenty years from 1990 to 2010, worldwide mobile phone subscriptions grew from 12.4 million to over 4.6 billion, from this data, you can understand of importance and popularity of mobile applications. Tango : Tango is a free application that allows users to make video calls to friends and family members anywhere in the world right from your mobile phone for free! Currently it supports popular mobile phone platforms like Android, Apple iOS and Microsoft Windows Mobile 7 (soon) that are connected to the Internet through 3G, 4G and WiFi networks. It is available as a free download in the iTunes Store, Android Marketplace or you can download it from www.tango.me. Obviously your mobile phone must have a camera for the video calling to work. To all Apple fans, Tango might sound very similar to Face Time, which is the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch based video calling application. Although Face Time is fabulous, the problem with it is that it limits users to making video calls to only other Apple users. However, Tango is a little more platform independent.

Fring : Another fantastic rival to Tango is the popular Fring application (http://www.fring.com/) which has advanced features like Group Video Chat (if you wish to video chat with multiple people at the same time), FringOut (allows you to make video calls to even users who are not on Fring) and support for text messaging on Instant Messengers. Video calling is here to stay. Don’t be surprised if in the coming years, instead of reading this technology column in print, you might be watching me speak to you via a video call. Who knows?

Skype : Skype is dominant in the Internet calling realm. However, with hundreds of millions of downloads, Skype is also popular for instant messaging as well. Skype allows you to send messages to anyone you regularly talk to while on Skype on your computer. With Skype on your Nokia, you can share photos, videos, and other files from your phone. Also, if a Skype message isn’t available, you can send SMS for the cheap Skype global rates.

Nimbuzz : Nimbuzz is a hybrid client, in that they support other Nimbuzz friends and your traditional IM systems as well. Nimbuzz will allow you to interact with your friends on various IM networks including MSN, Yahoo!, GoogleTalk, Facebook, IM, MySpace and Hyves. Also, you can do free calls with other Nimbuzz friends in HD where supported. This app makes chats look good with customizable avatars and backgrounds for your chats.

IM for Nokia : This application, straight from Nokia, allows for access to top IM systems including Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo!, MySpace and Ovi Chat. You can customize your status and availability across multiple IM systems with one setting. One distinctive feature I like about IM for Nokia is that this application integrates your friends and contacts’ IM status straight into your contact list, showing you friends who are available right now.

eBuddy : eBuddy is most likely the one mobile IM app you’ve heard of. This long-time favorite supports all the popular IM networks and this application works on many different Nokia models. A year ago, CEO Jan-Joost Rueb reported to Conversations that they support over 900 Nokia models. Also, back in April it was reported that eBuddy hit 10 million downloads int he Ovi Store – which is an astonishing figures.

WhatsApp : WhatsApp allows you to communication with contacts, either on a 1:1 basis or as a group. If your friends have other phones, such as iPhones, BlackBerry or Android, WhatsApp facilitates instant communication with them. Also, WhatsApp can degrade to SMS if this is necessary. WhatsApp can send pictures, audio and video to multiple parties, making this app very useful.

Nokia mobiles are very popular in India. Nokia India has around 54.1 percent market share. In India, it sold over 100 million mobile phones in 2009. It is a Finnish mobile company. Apart from India, it has presence in more than 150 countries and global annual revenue of over €42 billion and operating profit of €2 billion. Today, I have compiled a big list of almost all the popular Nokia mobile phone with their prices. The smallest Mobile Phone of the World

Neo Mobiles 808i is a Bar phone weighing 90g. It?s dimensions are 72MM x 41MM x 14MM . The talk-time of the phone is Up to 100 minutes. The phone operates at frequencies of GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 Mhz. The Phone has a Display of 262K colors, TFT 26mm x 21mm. This model comes with Camera of , 1.3 Mega Pixels Camera with , Digital Zoom. The phone fits within the palm of one hand and is loaded with features and a 1.3 megapixel camera, a music player and FM radio. Bluetooth is also there for sharing files with other mobiles and laptops. No one can expect all these features in such a small phone.

Length of the phone is 72 mm and it is 41 mm wide. It just looks like a small music player, until you see the keypad and recognize it as a phone. And the phone functions horizontally and not vertically. The keys in keypad are also horizontally set. Keypad has a joystick acting as a D-key and the camera key is seen on the side with the volume defining keys. Its hard to get set with everything in it in the beginning but later you would love the phone.

Memory for Neo 808i is stable at 128 Mb when you buy it but it can be expanded to a maximum of 4 GB. And the camera has both photo and video shoot options.
The phone supports GPRS and so you can enjoy the web through the small screen, which is mainly suitable for browsing the wap sites. There is also an ebook reader with which you can read online e-books.

The Neo 808i should come with a warning – for small people or children only. The tiny buttons make it impossible for anyone with adult-sized hands to be able to use this gadget – unless of course they have long fingernails – which almost entirely rules out male users, in particular business users who need to use their phone quickly and efficiently.

The onscreen, colour icons are cartoon-like and the ring tone choice is gimmicky, another plus for the playground. In its defence, however, the Neo 808i is easy to use once the user gets familiar to the small keys. For simple tasks such as texting, making and receiving calls, changing the ringtone and locking the keypad, the phone is simple to operate.

As a present for a teenager this phone is ideal but for the business user it is far from appropriate. The size of the handset – the very reason people might buy the phone – is actually its downfall. The keys and the screen are too small and the cartoon-style ring tones, icons and neck sock make it impossible to be taken seriously in an office environment.

Cost of the phone is between 7900 – 9200 INR
