Indian Institute of Science KVPY 2011 Fellowship

Applications are invited for KVPY Fellowships for School and Students interested in research careers.Basic Sciences

Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2011-2012 and have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SX: Students enrolled in Class 12 (+2) of the academic year 2011 - 2012 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc/B.S./Int. M.Sc) for the session 2012 - 2013 provided they secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SB: Students enrolled in 1st year B. Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc. during the academic year 2011–2012 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.

SP (Basic Sciences)
Students enrolled in XI/XII standard, I/II year (B.Sc../ B.S./ Int. M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences and I/II year B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. during the academic year 2011–2012 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ ST) marks in aggregate in the X & XII Standard Board Examinations. Additionally students enrolled in the II year B.Sc./ B.S./ Int. M.Sc/ B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. program must have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks in the I year examination. A hard copy of an original and creative Science based research project done by the applicant is required to be submitted along with the application.

Engineering students may also apply for the stream SP (Basic Sciences)

Stream SP (Medicine): Students joining First / Second Professional year of MBBS/ B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma program during the academic year 2011-2012. Students must have passed XII Standard Board Examination with 80% (70% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Science subjects or passed First Professional MBBS/ B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma exam with not less than 60% (50% for SC/ST) marks. A Copy of the Bio – Medical research project is required along with the application.

Applications (Online and Hard copy) are available from 15th July 2011.

Each Stream has its own application form. Students who wish to apply for more than one Streams should submit separate applications.

Applicants may apply either by Hard copy or Online (http://kvpy.org.in )

Hard copy of the application form can be obtained from KVPY on request by remitting a processing fee*, ** of `Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST) at any core banking branches of STATE BANK OF INDIA, payable at all branches in India into the credit of "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) A/c. No. 10270577392" and sending the "Pay-In-Slip" along with the request, clearly indicating the stream (i.e. SA, SB, SP) on the envelope.

* Girl students are exempted from payment of processing fee.

** Physically and visually challenged candidates are exempted from payment of the processing fee.

The completed application form along with the

1. Caste certificate in the case of SC/ST candidate

2. Medical certificate from the prescribed authority in case of physically and visually challenged candidates.

3. Project report in the case of SP (Basic Sciences/Medicine).

4. Copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s), in the case of Stream SP.

5. The original copy of the challan of processing fee of Rs. 200/- (Rs. 100/- for SC/ST)

should reach KVPY on or before 12.9.2011 (Monday).

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology Admission to Post Doctoral Fellow Programme

Inviting Applications for admission to Post Doctoral Fellow Programme starting in July 2011 in the areas of Avionics, Physics, Chemistry and Earth and Space SciencesPh.D in the relevant area and first class or equivalent in the Master’s Degree. Candidates who were awarded Ph.D before 01.07.2006 are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit: 32 years as on 30th June 2011. Age relaxation applicable as per Govt. of India Rules.

Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen

Duly filled application form along with attested copies of documents mentioned in the application form should be sent to The Administrative Officer, IIST, Valiamala Post, Thiruvananthapuram – 695547 with the superscription “Application for IIST PDF Programme”.

Applicants are required to send CV in the specific format and also submit a research proposal with in the frame work of the area advertised for the PDF. The research proposal should be of 3 to 5 pages and should contain the following information.

a) brief statement of the problem
b) aim of the research project
c) review of relevant literature
d) preparatory work of the candidate
e) brief outline of the methodology and steps in the execution of the project
f) relevant bibliography

While preparing the research proposal the prospective candidates are advised to go through the specified area of PDRO placed at our website www.iist.ac.in . For any clarification in this regard the applicant may contact the concerned IIST faculty identified in the PDRO.

University of Delhi Admission to M.Tech. Nuclear Science & Technology Program

Applications are invited for admission to the following programme

M.Tech. Nuclear Science & Technology Program

For M.Tech. Nuclear Science & Technology :

A candidate seeking admission to this course must qualify in the Joint Admission Test to M.Sc. (JAM) Physics -2011 for admission to M.Sc. and other post-B.Sc. programmes, conducted by the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Minimum educational qualification for the course is Bachelor's degree with Physics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters and Mathematics for at least one year/two semesters.

At least 60% aggregate marks or equivalent grade for General category candidates. Relaxation of 5% marks in the minimum eligibility conditions will be allowed to candidates belonging to all reserved categories.

Application form can be downloaded free of cost from the University web site (http://www.du.ac.in ). However, the application form along with the necessary documents must reach the following office by June 27, 2011.

A self-addressed envelope of size 10”×7” affixed with postage stamp worth Rs.30/- should also be enclosed with the request.

The request for the Bulletin of Information should be addressed to the above-mentioned office. Last date for receipt of applications by post is June 27, 2011.

The completed application form together with Photostat copies (only) of the detailed mark sheets of B.Sc. Exam, Matriculation/Secondary School Certificate bearing the date of birth and proof of rank for JAM Physics-2011/ M.Sc. entrance exam, must be submitted to the above-mentioned address in person or reach by post on or before June 27, 2011 by 4.00 P.M.

University of Allahabad Admission to M.Sc. and D.Phil in Cognitive Science

Admission to M.Sc. and D.Phil in Cognitive ScienceFor M.Sc. Cognitive Science:

Students who have completed a Bachelors degree in Behavioural/ Cognitive Science or related disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Biosciences, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Medicine, etc. are eligible to apply for admission to the Master programme.

Students should have at least 55% (for General) at the Undergraduate level (50% for OBC/SC/ST) for appearing in the entrance exam. A written entrance test followed by interview is conducted for the purpose of selection.

For D.Phil in Cognitive Science:

Students who have completed a Master program in Behavioural/ Cognitive Science or related disciplines including Psychology, Neuroscience, Sciences, Engineering (e.g., Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical Engineering), Linguistics, Medicine, and Philosophy are eligible to apply for admission to the Doctoral Program. Students with NET/ JRF/ CSIR/ GATE/ ICMR are encouraged to apply.

A minimum score at the Post-graduate Examination of 55% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point under the seven point Letter Grade Scale), laid down by the UGC in the case of General/ OBC candidates; or 50% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/ Grade Point) in the case of SC / ST/ PH/VH candidates.

A minimum average score in the entire academic career of 54% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point) in the case of General/ OBC candidates; or 49% marks (or the equivalent Letter Grade/Grade Point) in the case of SC/ ST/ PH/VH candidates.

Application Fees :

For outstation candidates (those applying from outside of Allahabad): 550 INR
