Qualifying Degree and other academic qualifications: Candidates should possess M.E. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in Mechanical /Chemical / Metallurgical/ Nuclear / Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation or Computer engineering disciplines with minimum 60% Marks in B. b. Age limit: The candidates desirous of availing DGFS-Ph.D. Fellowship should have been born on or after August 1, 1983. Age limit is relaxable by three years for OBC and by five years for SC/ST applicants. The age limit for the candidates working as faculty in Engineering Colleges desirous of doing Ph.D. without the fellowship grant is 40 years.

c. Nationality: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

For candidates belonging to SC/ST or physically handicapped category,
the minimum requirement of percentage of marks in aggregate is 65% and CGPA is 7.25 on a 10-point scale (except in Humanities & Social Science where the requirement is first class with a minimum of 55% marks or CGPA of 6.25).

A candidate can be considered for part time admission if he/she has 2 years experience and fulfils the eligibility conditions defined above.

Final year/semester students whose result is awaited are also eligible to apply.

Foreign candidates who fulfill the qualifications equivalent to educational qualifications required for admission to Ph.D. programme in the relevant discipline should apply through proper channel.

Minimum marks for M.Tech. & M.Sc.
